SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt, oil, loose rust, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, wax, mould. Black mill scale, loose rust or other debris should be removed by thorough wire brushing or abrading.
Thorough sanding of the surface is recommended.
Steel exposed to salt or marine environment should be thoroughly rinsed before application.
If repainting make sure surface is sound (i.e: no loose or peeling paint),lightly sand any paint film edges.
PRIMING STEEL:
No primer is required in mild conditions or interior exposure. For maximum rust protection
use a cold galvanising primer ,etch primer or use a anti-
PRIMING NON-
Aluminum and zinc coated metals must be thoroughly cleaned of grease and contaminents. while D2M can be applied directly for maximum adhesion a etch primer may offer maximum protection.
APPLICATION: Brush, Roller or Spray. SAND: Between each coat.
Step one: Preparation as above.
Step two: Apply the first coat applying evenly (do not apply in direct sunlight) once dry lightly sand before applying next coat.
Step three: Apply a second coat (dark colours may need a third coat if painting over a light colour)
APPLYING PAINT:
Firstly stir paint with a flat paint stirrer (do not shake as this will aerate paint
leaving bubbles when applied. Use short nap roller. Pre-
